Faraday’s chartered building surveying service is an integral part of our service provision. This includes major works projects on behalf of both internal and external clients, while supporting our property management team with expert advice, licensing building alterations, developing capital expenditure plans, as well as reinstatement cost assessments for insurance purposes.

We comply fully with the Service Charge Management Code published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and approved by the Secretary of State for England and Wales under the terms of Section 87 of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. OUR BUILDING SURVEYING SERVICE INCLUDES:

EXPERT GUIDANCE

Our experienced building surveying team expertly advise landlords and tenants on alteration proposals to leasehold properties, draft licences, issue approvals and monitor licenced works.

CAPITAL EXPENDITURE

We prepare detailed capital expenditure plans based on our strong understanding of buildings. Our expertise also extends to advising on professional matters such as dilapidations surrounding leases and party wall matters.

MAJOR WORKS

Our surveyors manage major works including inspecting the property, in order to prepare a draft specifications for Directors’ approval. We liaise with Directors to select contractors for tender, obtain tenders and then report to the Directors with a recommendation. The Surveyor would subsequently prepare contracts, consult in accordance with the Landlord and Tenant Acts and administer the work. They would issue interim certificates for payment and agree contractors’ accounts. We are also able to advise on the use of specialist professionals and contractors in relation to such work.

Alex Seziner
ALEX SEZINER BSc (Hons) MRICS
DIRECTOR OF SURVEYING

Alex is a Chartered Surveyor with circa. 15 years’ experience within the residential market, having worked for G15 housing associations and nationwide building consultancies, before joining Faraday Property Management as Director of Surveying. His areas of expertise are in building pathology and defect diagnosis, construction technology, cost consultancy, contract administration and party wall matters. Alex is also well versed in the preparation of alterations licences and schedule of dilapidations. 

Alex is passionate about London’s iconic architecture and feels privileged to play a modest role in preserving its character and beauty through the work that he and his colleagues undertake.  

Outside of work, Alex has a keen interest in sport, in particular football, tennis, basketball and clay pigeon shooting. He also enjoys travelling and exploring new places with his family.

Eddie Wong
Eddie Wong MRICS
Senior Building Surveyor

Eddie joined the Faraday Surveying team in 2023 and has over 20 years professional experience delivering both project management and a range of building surveying services, including defect diagnosis inspections, contract administration and project monitoring duties.

Eddie has broad experience having worked across residential and commercial sectors including retail, offices and the hospitality sector.

Away from the office Eddie enjoys spending time with his young family, golf, and cycling.

Matthew Fletcher
Matthew Fletcher MSc
Senior Building Surveyor

Matthew joined Faraday in 2017 and has since progressed to become a Senior Building Surveyor. Matthew’s career began while working at a local multi-disciplinary practice, during which time he graduated from London Southbank University with a master’s degree in building surveying.

Matthew’s experience over the past 15-years has largely been within the public sector and block management industry, having worked with clients such as Douglas and Gordon, Rendall and Rittner and the London Borough of Hounslow, before joining the Building Surveying team at Faraday. Matthew has a keen interest in building pathology, defects, and appropriate repair solutions on mansion blocks, along with overseeing a variety of major works projects including licence to alter applications and acting as the Contract Administrator.

Outside of work Matthew enjoys spending time with his young family, playing golf, watching football, and is preparing to strive towards his RICS APC to become a Chartered Building Surveyor.

Stewart Hawkins
 Stewart Hawkins BSc (Hons)
Senior Building Surveyor

Stewart joined the Building Surveying department at Faraday in 2007 and has over 20 years professional experience in residential surveying. Stewart enjoys working on a range of buildings, from high end properties to smaller mansion blocks. During his professional career, Stewart has developed a strong interest in building pathology, defect diagnosis, restoration and project and contract management, with a particular interest in external works programmes and interior refurbishment schemes. Stewart has also dealt with licence to alter applications for numerous buildings managed by Faraday and other external clients, assisting leaseholders through the process.

Stewart is passionate about preservation and restoration of historic buildings, together with interior design and modern architecture. Outside of work, Stewart enjoys art, travelling, hiking, and exploring new places and cultures.

Billy Capps BSc (Hons)
Building Surveyor

Billy has worked within the building surveying industry for three years, undertaking a range of core building surveying services, including but not limited to contract administrator, licences to alter, capital expenditure reports, reinstatement cost assessments, defect diagnosis reports and dilapidations.

Billy’s experience largely stems from working as a Contract Administrator across a wide portfolio of projects. These projects have varied in complexity and size, having acted as the Employers Agent on a 15-storey new build, student accommodation, as well as acting as Contract Administrator on existing residential and commercial projects.

Billy is currently working towards his RICS chartership which he is hopeful of achieving in the near future with Faraday.

Billy is an avid football fan and loves to attend games in his spare time. He also enjoys a round of golf.
